The Highlands is the 18-hole championship course at Hamilton Farm Golf Club, a private club on the former James Cox Brady estate (begun in 1911) in the Somerset Hills, whose old stables now house the U.S. Equestrian Team headquarters. Designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry on land Lucent Technologies bought in 1998, it opened in 2001 and hosted the LPGA's Sybase Match Play Championship from 2010 to 2012. In 2022 Fry and Jason Straka renovated it, lengthening it to 7,256 yards, repositioning and reshaping bunkers, adjusting tees and removing hundreds of trees.
Hamilton Farm is in Gladstone, New Jersey. There's no course by that name in North Carolina, so this is the one in the book.
